Border wars have erupted with NSW telling Queensland the closed border is “ridiculous” and to reopen it or face economic consequences.

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro made the call at the weekend, but Premier Gladys Berejiklian also had a go at both Queensland and Western Australia and said “the sooner the better” border closures end.

Speaking on Sky News on Sunday, Ms Berejiklian said she had “quietly having a jibe at all of my state colleagues who have their borders shut.“We appreciate that the key to our economic success will be to improve our supply chains and our manufacturing base amongst Australia so you do need to get those borders open as soon as possible in my view.

“But imagine if we actually had more of our 25 million population visiting places around Australia, I mean that is enormous potential, and the sooner we can do that the better in a safe way.An electronic sign on the M1 south bound ahead of the March 25 closure of the Queensland-NSW border. The border closure came into force on March 25 after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced measures to stop Easter holiday travel and the spread of COVID-19.

Too much community transmission down your way NSW and Vic, so piss off for now 😊 Shit it’s warm up here Rona doesn’t like the heat 😆

Pull your head in NSW.

NSW are right. The Border closure should never have been set up. Another giant stuff up by the Palaszcuk Govt. They never considered the huge inflow of tourists from NSW which were vital in keeping the Qld economy going. Also, plenty went from Qld to NSW.

I’d pay to see these two state premieres mud wrestle it out.

I've always been wondering: Why not the Tweeds become part of QLD if they rely on stuffs across the border?

Nope. Keep borders closed for now.

The whole thing is ridiculous ffs

Our family needs us to be with them

Sort of one nation saying don't annoy us or we won't buy your beef, barley or seafood? Lib state, ask Dutton about THAT boat.

Great

New South Wales vs Queensland the way we love it.

The A.P. LABOR Govt will be judged by there border closure, We need business activity just not with Virus or two. Lots of grey nomads and other people will head north. All about JUDGEMENT !

Time to put a stop to this. In fact to all border stops. We're all in this together and all Australians.

Ruby princess I think not

NSW taking cues from the CCP I see...

You can’t tell Qld anything. I mean they voted PeterDutton_MP back in 😳😂

Is NSW trying to be like China by making economic threats?

Lol...keep the wall up. NSW are just convid scum, we don't need them and their poor decision diseases. NSW has failed when it comes to suppressing covid

WA's border closure made sense, the QLD border closure does not. Time for NSW to impose its own estrictions on QLD businesses.

Bloody Mexican's

COVID has turned everyone against each other. People fighting, states fighting, list goes on.

Don’t they always quip at different times “Us Queenslanders” ! I beg to differ - aren’t we All Australian ? 😳

The border closure on the Tweed is the greatest example of over reaction of the entire virus saga. Idiocy, it is just a political stunt with an upcoming election. Northern NSW has more risk from SE Qld than the other way

Calm down NSW. You botched a simple thing with Ruby Princess and now you wanna act like a princess. Let's just wait and see after each state declares the easing of restrictions hasn't backfired with a spike in cases. In a couple of weeks. Until then calm your tits.

So what, NSW now think they can dictate to QLD? They need to clean up their own backyard first. Typical NSW arrogance.

Once the number of active cases in NSW drop to double digits, other states would be less worried about losing the gains they have made in eliminating the virus in their states. I think by next weekend NSW number will look much better

Is this a made up article? It's pretty easy to get a boarder permit and isn't this one country? Desperate media whores trying to get clicks.

So NSW conservatives want to instigate a secondwave? I'm sure the borders will come down at an appropriate time. No need to throw the toys out of the cot.

Coronavirus pandemic has NSW headed for first recession in 30 yearsNSW Treasury's chief economist says the state's economy is headed for a recession for the first time in nearly 30 years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Really I thought governments had money without needing to leach off their citizens Really, but surely Morrison will game the criteria by pumping the economy every other quarter (and killing it in the alternative ones) so that we don't end up with negative growth in two succcesive quarters. auspoI But no worries .. we’re getting two new stadiums

NSW minister urged by colleague to investigate 'untenable situation'NSW Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock is being called on by a member of her own government to intervene in a fractured council that is in the midst of court action between the CEO and five councillors. So the local member who promised to fight this council’s merger and then failed to do so is asking the person (or position) who executed the merger to fix the mess they made and they’re being treated like saviours. What a joke.

NSW Government to fund crisis accommodation for international students through coronavirus pandemic - ABC NewsThe NSW Government pledges $20 million to fund temporary crisis accommodation for stranded international students during the coronavirus crisis. Disgraceful, we need to look after our own kids first. Many are out of jobs, and/or have had to move home. This money could've been used to help Aussie kids and students. Why arent their parents a d governments supporting them? Why did they not go home, like scomo advised, if they couldn't support themselves? This is all due to a deliberately inflicted 'socioeconomic crisis' under false pretences, solution is easy, STOP THE LOCKDOWN ASAP and resume normality. Why intentionally destroy society? It's stupid and disgraceful. Seriously, it's insane.
