The NSW COVID cabinet is expected to delay the reopening of regional travel beyond Monday despite the state likely hitting the 80 per cent vaccine threshold over the weekend.

Under New South Wales’ roadmap out of lockdown, travelling to the regions would resume once the state hit the vaccine milestone.

“I mean, regional areas, we want to welcome visitors back into our communities. But we also don’t want to see the virus getting out of control, seeing hospitalisations in those communities. We need to make sure it’s a balanced approach,” he said.Premier Dominic Perrottet stressed on Thursday his government had “made commitments in relation to the 80 per cent double dose”.

New South Wales is on track to hit the 80 per cent double dose mark by Friday - if the current trends continue - which will mean restrictions will be eased on Monday, October 18. Dancing is permitted indoors and outdoors and drinking is allowed while standing up and sitting down.Recreation facilities including stadiums and theme parks to open with a limit of 5000 people.Information and education facilities including libraries to reopen with density limits.Ticketed outdoor gatherings allowed to host 3000 people with density limits.Weddings and religious services:
