NSW opposition leader Chris Minns will use his lockdown-delayed budget reply speech to call on the government to extend its pandemic economic support | Rabe9

NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns will use his lockdown-delayed budget reply speech to call on the government to extend its COVID economic support to a divided Sydney, while taking aim at the newly minted Premier’s financial record.

He will also suggest the government extend its JobSaver program, which is being scaled back as NSW reopens. The state government has already committed to“Nobody expects support payments indefinitely but cutting too quickly will have serious consequences,” Mr Minns will say. “It is time for a big build in social housing and schools – bringing back jobs, getting young people into their homes, and our kids learning in classrooms fit for our future.”

“At the last election, after eight years, the Liberals and Nationals ran out of ideas – and last week, after 10 years, they ran out of talent.”The member for Kogarah, who was appointed Labor leader just three weeks before NSW was thrust into the Delta lockdown, will also say the government should extend its COVID intensive learning program into 2022 after months of disrupted learning.

NSW will be ‘very different’ without COVID-19 restrictions🤔 He's right. ICUs statewide will be unconscionably over capacity, thousands of cases of COVID will be in remote communities that have so far managed to avoid it, and mainstream media will be singing Perrottet's praises, bleating about how the economy is improving. Other States should just sit back and watch what happens in NSW good or bad.👍

Wowzahs. Vaccines work, ey? Has anyone asked why we couldn’t wait until these case numbers had got down to say 50 or less? More would be vaccinated as well. Lockdown is working but business is in too much of a hurry to boost its profits. Looks like the Covidiots out there are getting message to getting vaccinated and following health orders. What a pity it is that so many people had to die to get to this point. There are a lot of folk out there who should be ashamed of their behaviour.
