A COVID-19 outbreak at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney's west is still under investigation after 24 patients and five staff, including an intensive care unit nurse, contracted the virus over a week.
Mr Hazzard said serology results, which were yet to be returned, would allow authorities to investigate how the virus spread through several wards. "They are trying to work out what has actually occurred with the intrusion fo the virus into the hospital ... but almost every hospital in the world has had intrusions," he said.
"Worldwide, hospitals are places that people come in when they are sick with COVID so there is always a risk.""Of course I'm concerned but I'm also concerned that the media doesn't overstate the case and cause panic in the community when it's not necessary."This is the third COVID outbreak at Liverpool Hospital which has been one of the hardest hit by the Delta outbreak given its location in Western Sydney where cases continue to be the highest in the state.
