MP Barnaby_Joyce told Sky News the proposed abortion legislation was “designed, planned and schemed in such a way to pull wool over our eyes” which is why so many people, even of the pro-choice position, are “furious”. TheBoltReport

Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce says New South Wales politicians were planning the controversial abortion bill before the state election in March yet it was not made public.

On Monday three rebellious state Liberal MPs announced they would move a spill motion against Premier Gladys Berejiklian over the handling of the proposed legislation but they promptly called their coup, scheduled to take place Tuesday morning, off. Mr Joyce told Sky News the proposed legislation was “designed, planned and schemed in such a way to pull wool over our eyes” which is why so many people, even of the pro-choice position, are “furious”.

'NSW Liberal overwhelmingly unites behind Berejiklian’ | Sky News AustraliaNew South Wales Attorney General Mark Speakman says NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has “the overwhelming support of party members because she led us to victory and is a premier that is working extremely hard”. \n\nThe premier spent Monday night locked in crisis talks after Tanya Davies, Matthew Mason-Cox and Lou Amato pledged to “hold her to account” over the controversial abortion bill. \n\nThe contentious abortion bill, which was put forward by Independent MP Alex Greenwich, passed the lower house 59 to 31 in a conscience vote with the support of Labor and the Nationals.\n\nMr Speakman told Sky News on Tuesday 'it’s up to the upper house, individual MPs to decide how to vote on this bill, it is not a government bill, it is beyond the power of the premier to direct MPs how to vote, if that is what these three MPs want then they are misguided'. \n\n“The vast majority of Liberal MPs realise the electors don’t want a circus and don’t want to see a repetition of what happened in Canberra,' he said. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia She is doing a good job. Abortion debate rages on in NSW after Liberal spill fizzles | Sky News AustraliaDebate on the abortion bill has resumed in New South Wales parliament after a clumsy attempt by three pro-life MPs to bring down Premier Gladys Berejiklian was abandoned.\n\nTanya Davies, Matthew Mason-Cox and Lou Amato called off their plan to move a spill motion before the party room meeting was due to begin on Tuesday morning. \n\nMPs are expected to discuss the controversial legislation and possible amendments well into the night, with pro-life advocates rallying outside to protest the bill which, in its current form, would allow abortion for any reason up to 22 weeks. \n\nShooters, Fishers and Farmers Party leader Robert Borsak has said Monday night’s attempted spill motion is a “direct flow-on” from the “abysmally bad” way Ms Berejiklian handled the abortion bill.\n\nTransport Minister Andrew Constance labelled the failed uprising as “ridiculous' and said the three Liberal rebels should “focus on the issues at hand instead of the politics around this” and get “back in [their] box”. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Clumsy is the word of the week for conservatives behaving like fools. Babies aborted live because beating hearts were needed for research. Oopsie, nearly lost that 'quiet australians disagree with this' narrative. Phew.
