Indigenous leader Warren Mundine says it’s “a bit immature” for Indigenous leaders in the New Zealand town of Mangonui to ban an Australian replica of Captain James Cook’s ship Endeavour from landing.

The ship is circumnavigating New Zealand to acknowledge the first onshore encounters between Maori people and the British 250 years ago. Mr Mundine said the event is something that needs to be acknowledged and that history must be looked at to learn from it. Image: News Corp Australia
