The condition of the state Coalition could be under threat if ministers and government bureaucracies keep pushing "green ideology", according to NSW Deputy Premier and Nationals leader John Barilaro. Mr Barilaro's stark warning comes as Environment Minister Matt Kean announced he will launch a consultation period into noise and air pollution that is caused by freight trains in regional New South Wales.
Mr Barilaro rejected this, telling Sky News the formal Coalition between the Nationals and the Liberals could be under threat if ministers keep persisting with "dumb policy". "We are the voice of rural and regional NSW," he said. "My job as the leader of the Nationals is to fight for our regions ... I'm not going to allow other ministers to push forward green ideology that attacks my base, attacks my communities and attacks the regions.
