Breaking: NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro will take a month of mental health leave with Paul Toole named acting Deputy Premier | alexsmithsmh

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro will take a month of mental health leave after a torrid week which saw the Nationals threaten to destroy the Coalition.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian released a statement acknowledging Mr Barilaro's decision to take leave and offering him whatever support he may need."This afternoon Deputy Premier John Barilaro advised me he would take four weeks of personal leave," her statement said. "I have offered him any support he may need. His commitment came after a bruising week in parliament, in which he refused to guarantee that he would not again threaten to take his National MPs to the crossbench.

One senior Liberal minister said: “I am furious with him but on another level, I am very worried about the bloke. He is not in a good place.”Mr Barilaro's leadership was not challenged at a National party room meeting on Tuesday, but several of his colleagues were canvassing other candidates.

AlexSmithSMH a tool replaced by a Toole ....like all bullies a fragile little boy inside...wants to play first grade then gets all upset cause they tackle hard...Barnaby went missing like this too Barnaby_Joyce JohnBarilaroMP

AlexSmithSMH Wow, he was fine last week, well enough to stoop to blackmailing a political party to get his way. I feel very sorry for mental health patients but not convinced in his case, it is just a poor excuse to take the heat off.

AlexSmithSMH Canavan said about Barilaro's property law debacle - 'It might not have been pretty but it is going to prove to have been pretty effective.' Especially if he resigns.

AlexSmithSMH Will a month be long enough?

AlexSmithSMH Don’t agree with his politics. But if he is indeed suffering from mental illness he is not alone. This has been a tough year for many. Wish him well. And thinking of so many others struggling with mental illness and trying to hold it together in lockdown or supporting families.

AlexSmithSMH Just a month? Surely needs much much more

AlexSmithSMH Probably working on how he will handle the questioning by ICAC and prove he is not the corrupt Giovanni highlighted by the Friendly Jordies

AlexSmithSMH friendlyjordies leave Giovanni alone Bruz!

AlexSmithSMH Tactic to try & get the heat off him. Leave him alone strategy. What a load of BS!!! 🤬🤬🤬

AlexSmithSMH On full pay?

AlexSmithSMH Barilaro replaced by Toole. Couldn’t have written it better myself. PilatesPet

AlexSmithSMH These bloody pollies have got it all sewn up a month of mental health leave what BULLSHIT they need to spend time in the real world experience the hardship normal decent people go through WEAK AS PISS

AlexSmithSMH (Yawn) Wait for his back-down announcement tomorrow...

AlexSmithSMH Corrupt to the core. LNPCrimeFamily

AlexSmithSMH Good move. Recent evidence is that he’s verging on being barking mad, so time-out is overdue. Politics a brutal business and cool headed judgement is critical.

AlexSmithSMH So the guy that's barking mad is taking a month off because he is a lunatic. Leaves an utter toole in his place

AlexSmithSMH Do we think he has just thrown his toys out of the cot?

AlexSmithSMH I empathise with anyone suffering MH issues but there is a cynical part of me that suspects this is ploy to let the smoke clear & plebs 2020 short attention span to do its thing. He had skin in the game he played. Compromised.

AlexSmithSMH This is a complete mockery of everyone who is facing real mental health issues. This spineless coward is trying to take advantage of the system again. He is trying to use this as way of deflecting from his crimes SuperBarilaroBruz

AlexSmithSMH might take more than a month

AlexSmithSMH Shocked. 😮😮😮

AlexSmithSMH We have a Queensland Health official under extreme strain, a Premier in tears and a Deputy Leader needing mental health leave. Bullying is never OK - difference of opinion and freedom of democratic representation must be respected. Stop bullying, get on with yr job nswpol

AlexSmithSMH I don’t get the point of being a pollies in Australia. Too strict fr getting any side kicks, too much pressure and certainly no thanks and appreciations from the people. You really have to be a real masochist to do this daily

AlexSmithSMH dean_zammit10 wtf !!!! Hahaha

AlexSmithSMH It will take more than 4 weeks

AlexSmithSMH Cheap conman exposed.

AlexSmithSMH

AlexSmithSMH If I had to work with bossy whining old Gladys I’d be taking mental health leave too! All the best John - stay strong! nsw barilaro alanjones

AlexSmithSMH Woah. I knew there was something off about him.

AlexSmithSMH I wish I got 4 weeks paid leave when I fucked up😕

AlexSmithSMH Yes, get out of the kitchen..

AlexSmithSMH John, it's time to really resign from politics. Then take a long break sit back & see the world & then decide where your new career will lead.

AlexSmithSMH Hey friendlyjordies , believe this?

AlexSmithSMH Needs time to recover from a narcissistic injury.

AlexSmithSMH

Jasonsmumr AlexSmithSMH tilly64 I was right. They do need psychiatric help.

AlexSmithSMH The comment thread is the real test of our commitment to taking mental health seriously. Give him space. Let him get help, rest and heal. No caveats.

AlexSmithSMH Mental Health; my A.......!

AlexSmithSMH Holy shit friendlyjordies ! I'm in a quandary here, knowing you have planned another video on him for next week. Mental health issues are real and he needs support but also corruption is rife and needs to be brought out in the open. Thoughts?

AlexSmithSMH Most of the state premiers should do the same. They’re too weak and pathetic to lead us out of the mess that they created.

AlexSmithSMH OK, time to be serious. Give him time to adjust to being a scrutinised politician, and if he can't, then we can deal with it.

AlexSmithSMH He's lucky he can get it.

AlexSmithSMH Why just a month? Should just leave permanently.

AlexSmithSMH Who would have thought the koala business would be so stressful? Such cute animals.

Who incite these people ? Yep critique of politicians is an endless part of politics, but threats like this have no place in any arena.
