With the abortion bill passing the NSW upper House AlexGreenwich says he will move that the amendments be agreed on tomorrow, paving the way for abortion to be decriminalised in NSW

Claps erupted in the NSW upper house as a bill to decriminalise abortion was finally passed after a marathon debate, but its amendments are yet to be approved by the lower house.

"With the passage of this bill abortion will be decriminalised in NSW - I am sorry that has taken us so long," Mr Greenwich said in a statement on Wednesday night. The bill also allows terminations up to 22 weeks as well as later abortions if two doctors agree. Tensions reached a climax last week when Liberal MPs Tanya Davies, Mathew Mason-Cox and Lou Amato said they would move a leadership spill motion against Premier Gladys Berejiklian over her handling of the bill.

Months of debate? What a colossal waste of taxpayers money. Should have been decriminalized 50 years ago.

8footerz Such great news 💜

Moving in the right direction at long last.

''finally'' not needed

VeganRoo This is fantastic, every woman should be able to have an abortion without being classed as a criminal! It's not black and white, women get abortions for so many reasons, not everyone who has one wanted to do so, but they may never had a choice due to health or other reasons!

All those pro lifers should put their money where their mouths are. Offer to fully support financially every mother and child forever that makes this decision due to economic reasons inc housing education etc otherwise rack off.

deniseshrivell LegalisedAbortion finally NSW escapes the clutches of the religious baby factory for pedophiles era
