'No option should be ruled out' to solve Hong Kong crisis: Carrie Lam | Kirstylneedham

Chief Executive Carrie Lam says she still wants Hong Kong to resolve its political crisis on its own, but warned "no option should be ruled out" as speculation grows that Beijing will intervene.

Lam told media it was too soon to judge if the anti-mask law, which spurred tens of thousands of people onto the street in protest at the weekend and saw violent clashes with police on Sunday night, was a failure. "We need the people of Hong Kong to respect the law. So if a piece of legislation has been enacted but people refuse to abide by the law, then of course we have a problem at hand," she said. The education department asked school principals to report how many students wore masks on Tuesday, but one principal told local media that school grounds aren't covered by the public order law so the ban shouldn't apply.

Perfect for the office run (and back!) Protest has to hit without someone being on the receiving end. It’s about energy. Disrupting traffic, thus being directly responsible for increasing vehicle emissions and getting the public offside will definitely help the cause. 🤷‍♀️
