The reliance on rapid antigen tests (RATs) in the NSW government's back-to-school plan has parents concerned over their accessibility and reliability.

The reliance on rapid antigen tests in the government's back-to-school plan has parents concerned over their accessibility and reliability.NSW Labor says parents have legitimate questions around the use of RAT kitsJust days before the beginning of term one, Premier Dominic Perrottet yesterday unveiled his much-anticipated schools' COVID-smart strategy.

"We want to ensure here in New South Wales that closing schools is the last resort and we are incredibly confident," Mr Perrottet said. So Jasmine Blacka is not so confident about how safe it will be for her two children returning to school amid the surge in COVID-19 cases. "I mean, the tests are all well and good but I can't go to the local shop and grab some if we need them," Ms Blacka said.

It’s an issue for a very small minority of children who have shit kicker parents who don’t know how to raise a child. You know, the ones that becomes the dregs of society.

I have to say, that’s an experience I’d far rather outsource.

Unless its speed? What meth problem .......

This government has no idea wtf they are doing! Should be remote learning Term 1. No one feels safe going back to school and these RATs aren't going to make any difference..

How longs that gonna last and how accurate will it actually be. 🙄

Stick it up their arses then.

Amazing when something like a pandemic occurs you get the usual loudmouths shouting the odds and being selfish. Self sacrifice and pitching in, for these people, is a non starter

Just bin them and get on with life.

But sniffing up is acceptable?

Violating kids with inaccurate tests 2/week and forcing them to wear masks 8 hrs/day (note oxygen and the ability to read facial expressions are critical to a developing brain) is child abuse. Masks are useless. Kids - 💯 survival rate from covid. Not their job to protect adults

Thankfully my children attend a school in SA where RAT’s are not forced upon the school system. I feel for every parent in NSW with school aged children. For me this would be no choice, I would be keeping my children home where they are not subjected to unnecessary tests.

As a Mum, I have absolutely no concerns about sending my kids back to school. They’ve suffered long enough. The Dept of Education, Principals and teaching staff do an amazing job of keeping the kids and themselves safe whilst providing as close to normal, a school experience.

Yes, there will be many distressed children. Just shameful.

Watch how fast the self testing at schools last when there is accurate reporting of test numbers and results.

Tell me they got saliva tests for the kids? Please?

RAT’s where an after thought for the nsw state and federal govt. They only placed orders this month when everyone started demanding them. The reason they gave was; they were not happy with the reliability of the tests. Now the whole school system depends on them.

Don't send kids to school then. 'No chance you're child's going to give me covid then.' Has the ABC interviewed an real teachers about their thoughts on getting covid, long covid, or dying from covid after catching it at school?

It’s a small inconvenience for the safety of the kids back to school. NSWEducation NSWHealth Dom_Perrottet probably the best option in the current peak wave

That’s fine, the back of the throat swab works better for Omicron. This should be communicated.

I had to have many tests in order to come back to Australia. One woman shoved that fcuking stick so far up my nose that I now have blood clots in my nostril every morning when I wake up.
