Australia is not looking to ban ultra-popular app TikTok, despite the US approving a new bill that could see the video-app become banned.

Despite the national security concerns being raised by the US, Australia has no plans to ban TikTok, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance. The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a bill that would force TikTok to divest from its Chinese owner or be banned from the US on Wednesday.

" The warning shot against the app caught many by surprise as both Republicans and Democrats risked the wrath of TikTok's passionate young users in an election year when the youth vote will be key. "Today's bipartisan vote demonstrates Congress' opposition to Communist China’s attempts to spy on and manipulate Americans, and signals our resolve to deter our enemies," Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said after the vote.
