Nine Entertainment’s CEO Mike Sneesby flew to Greece for a holiday merely hours after he slashed hundreds of jobs at the trouble-plagued media company in a move which saw outraged staff pass a motion of no confidence in the board and its boss.

His overseas departure came as he has faced enormous scrutiny during the past six weeks over the handling of serious sexual harassment allegations directed against former Nine boss Darren Wick. About 90 roles across the publishing division will be made redundant, a further 38 jobs will be cut from the company’s TV section and the remaining jobs will be shed across the remainder of media organisation.

They voiced their distress over the widespread job slash and said “senior editors appear to have been kept in the dark until the last moment about the planned job cuts”. He also blamed the termination of a commercial deal with Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, and a sluggish advertising market. - was a lifeline for struggling networks and newspapers due to the decline in free-to-air linear broadcast audiences and shrinking newspaper circulations.
