Nick Waplington's first book, Living Room, captured the lives of friends, family, and neighbors on a housing estate in Nottingham during the 80s. The photographs provide a unique insight into the daily routines and moments of the community.

Nick Waplington ’s first book, Living Room , was published in 1991, and was an instant sensation within the photography world and beyond. ‘This image,’ he says, ‘was made during half-time in an England World Cup match in the 80s outside my grandfather’s house.

You don’t want to be working all the time in a documentary-esque situation, because otherwise it becomes about you and the camera. It’s about having an instinct for when something is going to happen’‘Playing around in the street in summertime.
