BREAKING News Corp is planning to axe hundreds of jobs across its metro and regional divisions this week.

News Corp is planning to centralise parts of its editorial and commercial functions, cut print production and restructure its regional newspaper business.

News Corporation's global executive chairman, Rupert Murdoch, is not receiving his annual cash bonus this financial year and chief executive Robert Thomson said he would forgo 75 per cent of his annual cash bonus after the company warned investors of significant third-quarter revenue declines.in the last few months as part of a broader restructure and the weak ad market conditions.

The company announced a management restructure two weeks ago which saw executives such as Lou Barrett and Julian Delany expand their responsibilities. about the sale of its regional and community newspaper business, which is made up of more than 100 titles including

Why is it 1/3 of top companies in Australia pay NO tax

Newscorp can get fucked

Maybe now they can be real reporters, not following Murdoch's directions.

geeksrulz Sorry about the job losses but that's what happens when you work for an international crime syndicate. I have now the Murdoch talking heads scum on Sky will keep their jobs

Fantastic!

Going to be hard for the remaining staff to turn out the same amount of propoganda with less people around

Break up media conglomerates. A vested oligarchy owning print, TV and radio - metro and regional unhealthily limits diverse editorial policy and is the “MacDonalds” of journalism. Not to mention a corrupter of the political system.

So how much of the $5 million recently given to regional newspapers went to NewsCorp?

Let’s celebrate

They've taken the Murdoch shilling for this long. Now they'll have the chance to regain some integrity and self respect. Be welcomed back into normal society. auspol

Unfortunately not axing their founder/CEO!!

I hope they’re already packing up to go fruit picking. They love to suggest it for other unemployed people...

Oh diddums..

Good, hopefully they’ll keep the few good journalists they’ve got and cull the rest.

Hopefully those at the age who are running a concerted campaign to undermine our state government and destroy our trading relationship with China will soon lose their jobs. What you are doing is tantamount to economic terrorism.

Good Riddance to Murdoch Media

good timing Rupert!! theres a pandemic and your concern Rupert is to fire people adding them to the demonised group called jobseekers that you beat down with your billions of American dollars in your media outlets NewsCorp auspol AUWU jobseeker

Do they support the RWNJ or the LWNJ 🤔

Given that Newscorp owns most of the newspapers, TV and radio stations across Australia with a 75 percent reach spewing their filthy lies then this is good news. Sorry I have no sympathy for corrupt journos that deliberately spread Rupert's propaganda to rig our elections.

In short, News Corp is going broke because of its toxic reputation for bias and low quality standards of reporting. But don’t tell them. Australians will all be better off without the whole company.

AndrewBolt Bolt BoltReport Andrew Bolt’s neighbours were pleased we took out his garbage because WE ARE THE NEIGHBOURS Malvern Melbourne

Hopefully Murdoch will be first to go - save a fortune & more papers will be sold

Any executives losing their jobs?

AnthonyCole68 I want more ..

Bottom line. Who cares.

It's not called News Corpse for nothing you know.

I hope they go under

Had sad for those who have already sold their souls.

No surprises there

It is sad when it is people's livelihoods , but when an organisations like Murdoch goes out of its way to promote the high end of town and denigrate the poor , vulnerable and disenfranchised , sympathy is not an option. Oft times the karma bus takes no prisoners.

Is Bolt going?

The purveyors of fear will now be on the receiving end. How does it feel?

Working for Murdoch doesn't mean you're safe from his 'policies' and greed. Hopefully these people can find better employment with a better boss.

They may have to learn how to code...

News Corp already does shoddy journalism . stuff cut going to leave them with just Herald sun writers lol

Good riddance

Best wishes to people finding a place in journalism for the future, rather than wasting your life in that sewer. You studied this, you know what it could be. boycottMurdoch murdochOut murdochCancer boycottNewsCorp

Could I suggest that NewsCorpAus get rid of the deadheads at the top that are incapable of journalism & let the hungrier more able young wannabes take care of real news. Push Kenny, Sheridan, Devine, Markson, etc out of the nest & let them find their own wings. auspol MSMFail

Throw out Chris Kenny

Hopefully Lefty Van Onselen is one of them.

Please please please let it be that greyhound racing supporter Miranda Devine.

Karma. Maybe if their journos had tried journalism rather than propaganda, they'd have kept their jobs.

Geez, you really must be a shit journalist when even Murdoch let’s you go!

Good riddance to excess toilet paper.

why not just axe Newscorp completely!

Celebrating Murdoch newscorp crumbling. Jobs in a Murdoch sphere only every temporary. Australian workforce is highly casualised thanks to liberals and their capitalist donors.

SkyNewsAust where is your outrage at this travesty happening to the.......

I bet they keep the shittier ones though... Shit sticks I guess...

Remember now former News Corp employees, being unemployed is 'like a holiday' and being homeless is 'a kind of freedom.' That's what the newspapers and online trash and ranting TV garbage you all helped to get out into the world taught us. Enjoy your 'holiday' and 'freedom.'

Great News. The People will no longer be manipulated by Murdoch’s propaganda media network. BoycottMurdochMedia journalism auspol Media ownership rules need urgent attention.

Thank God

Really who gives a crap. I don't buy nor read any of the crap put out by this organisation.

Of course if they offloaded Bolt they could afford to pay for dozens of real journalists

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

Because we did not punch their journalists who spread misleading info, which is USA deep influences our society! Our government ignor it, and only doing is punch our top client , China!

Kinda sad to see so many people taking pleasure in this. Yes, News Corp isn't the favourite outlet of many people, but good media diversity also includes outlets you don't like. Instead of cheering for fewer outlets that you don't agree with, push for more outlets that you do.

Oooh, could this be the start of responsible and balanced reporting?

Please let Bolt be one of them. Oh please please please please please

So who is next less adds

That’s what you get for sucking up to Murdoch

Too many of them anyway.......there are plenty of app jobs available to put food on the table. Enjoy the experience.

There could never be enough!! MURDOCH PARIAR!!

Great news. Where’s the party being held?

And nothing of value was lost

So sad, too bad.

Get me in, I write garbage for free.

Crankie58 Who's going to do the propaganda now? ABC ?

At least we know no journalists will lose their jobs

Given some recent pieces, you’d think they’d been recruited by the Age.

Get rid of the journalists in order to keep the reporters

please let Andrew Bolt's job be the first to be axed. Ah stuff it, just shut the whole damn Murdoch NewsCorp down. It's all vile.

AnthonyCole68 eventually the Murdochracy will be a sealed echo chamber / mausoleum in which mummified Pharaoh Rupert will be enclosed for eternity with his acolytes chanting rhetoric about leftist thought! The Wizened One will be in his true element forever !!

Bolt! Make it Bolt!

Like doing trade deals with China - work with cunts and you end up being in the gutter. Sad on a personal level but unsurprising and good for media generally.

AnthonyCole68 Cancel your subscriptions to the Murdoch dross! They don’t care about you and even less for the staff they are now chopping!

I wasn’t aware there was anyone left to sack

FANTASTIC some of the BS will cease ask their employees the meaning of loyalty

RubyNewscorp

Hopefully Mr Bolt is one of them.

If this is happening because the people are no longer interested in reading the standard MSM narratives it's not a bad thing.

Hopefully it'll be soon.

LeGrandeWee Geelong

That’s because people have axed Murdoch’s sewer rat journalism

Hope newscorpse sack Sheridan & Mark Kenny

CherylCritchley I don't like News Corp but i feel for the people losing their jobs

It's Labor's fault. Labor. Labor. Labor.

I feel for every person who loses their job. I also hate newscorpse. May you disappear in the cesspool

Scott Morrison ‘wants to get Australia opening up’: Kenny | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says Scott Morrison’s National Press Club speech was “a bit of a stocktake” but clearly the Prime Minister wants Australia to be “opening up” on the path forward out of COVID-19. \n\nOn Tuesday Prime Minister Scott Morrison thanked Australians for their sacrifices during the coronavirus lockdown saying their efforts have allowed the country to begin rebuilding.\n\nMr Morrison told the National Press Club that many developed countries experienced 100 times the deaths Australia did while Australians escaped the “worst-case scenario”.\n\nMr Kenny said as it stands, Australia is “in a great spot” as “we’ve given ourselves a great chance here, we’ve saved lives, stopped our health system being overwhelmed and we’ve crushed infections”.\n\n“All this means we ought to be re-opening much more quickly and with much more confidence,” Mr Kenny said.\n\nHe also said the prime minister “doesn’t want a fight” with the states on border closures but he is becoming increasingly “frustrated with their behavior”. \n\n“Seriously, Tasmania, WA, SA, the Territory and Queensland have got to open their borders, and more importantly they have to open their economies,” Mr Kenny said. \n\nIt comes as mixed messages have been delivered by state premiers, with some pushing for sooner relaxation of social distancing regulations and borders bans, and others seeking their extension.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia ScottMorrisonMP Can we open up to China? Morrison 'throws unions a bone' with latest Press Club announcement | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says Prime Minister Scott Morrison has “thrown a bone” to the unions as he announced he would be dropping the union busting bill during a National Press Club address on Tuesday. \n\n“He wants business and unions to get together and discuss a simpler, fairer, more job friendly industrial relation environment,” Mr Kenny said. \n\nOn Tuesday Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed the government will shelve its contentious union-busting bill as a sign of “good faith” as it looks to get it’s ‘JobMaker’ plan off the ground. \n\nThe legislation — which failed to pass the Senate last year after One Nation voted against it at the eleventh hour — would have lowered the threshold for the reregistration of unions and disqualification of officials.\n\nMr Morrison said the government was committed to the principle of the bill but said it would be dropped in a display of “good faith”.\n\n'Look a lot of people are talking about this pandemic as a chance to change the world, bring in the reforms they've always dreamed of,' Mr Kenny said. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia ScottMorrisonMP Thrown a bone?
