But while we’re on the subjects of codes of conduct, what about the College Council’s adherence to its own?This week, in a move that could have been prompted by our asking about it, the school uploaded its council election and tenure policy to the website. At first glance, it limits members to serving for nine years , while chairmen may hold that office for up to 10 years.
Having been chairman for nine years, you would think McDonald is riding up against even this reading of his term limits. Again, you would be entirely wrong. That’s unless the old boys have anything to do with it. A group of them successfully took the Old Newingtonians’ Union to the NSW Supreme Court this year after it failed to heed the results of a fiery meeting in which its entire board was narrowly removed from office.
