Australian producer Rodney Rigby walked into a musical workshop in 2017. What he saw there blew him away - and this year it opens on Broadway.

It’s every theatre producer’s dream. In 2017 a group of potential investors sat down at a workshop for a new musical. By the time they were finished, every single one of them wrote a cheque., about the English royal who died in 1987 and remains to this day a global obsession.Facebook

From left: Judy Kaye, Erin Davie, Roe Hartrampf and Jeanna de Waal who star in the upcoming musical Diana.workshop I let chief producer Beth Williams know I was on board and was so excited by what I had seen,” Rigby says. “She was shocked because she had one of those experiences every producer dreams about – the show was fully capitalised on that day. Everyone who saw it was crazy about it.”but shut after nine performances because of the pandemic.

“The musical form provides an emotional context to the development of story and character in a way that only it can do,” Rigby says. “This is a story about three people and what really struck me is that there’s no blame. Instead, you see three incredibly flawed people who have aspects of being heroic and the love between Camilla and Charles is extraordinary. The duty to their nation was extraordinary and I’m a staunch republican. It’s like a Greek tragedy in many respects.

New South Wales records 239 new local coronavirus cases and two deathsNSW has recorded 239 new local cases of coronavirus and two deaths, with Premier Gladys Berejiklian warning things are 'likely to get worse before they get better'. The caseload came from 110,962 tests. Why are international flights still coming into Sydney? If Sydney is an out of control hot-spot, what's the point of flying returning Australians in there to quarantine? Just a recipe for increased spread. No one in or out. Quarantine Sydney. Well the only positive is the huge numbers of people being tested. I wonder if those who protested on the weekend are feeling sorry for themselves today - if they now have COVID and spread it to their loved ones. Likely to get worse for you if you fail to implement the agenda. You will be another mysterious statistic.
