The SA Government has announced fines of $1,000 for travellers from Victoria who refuse a coronavirus test on arrival in SA, as the state confirms its first COVID-19 case in more than two weeks.

The South Australian Government has announced fines of $1,000 for travellers from Victoria who refuse a coronavirus test on arrival in SA, as the state confirms its first COVID-19 case in more than two weeks.

Premier Steven Marshall said the woman recently travelled from overseas to Victoria, where she twice tested negative while in quarantine."It is a low positive. She is not contagious. SA Health is not concerned about this person although she is going to remain in 14 days of isolation." "Other members of her family, who she has been with, have not contracted this disease but we will continue to monitor that situation."after a "possible" case was revealed on WednesdayThe Government has said it will issue fines for people travelling into the state from Victoria who do not take a mandatory coronavirus test.

Mr Marshall said people crossing the border from Victoria are required to have a coronavirus test within 24 hours of arrival, and again on day 12 of their quarantine."We're sending a very strong message that is is absolutely mandatory to make sure that these tests are undertaken and that we keep our state safe," he said.

Four people who were yesterday released without conviction for sneaking into the state on a freight train have returned negative results."We are concerned about what is happening in Victoria and that is why we have a hard border arrangement," he said. The four men, all aged in their twenties, will be returned to Victoria.

Wow!!! Fines for saying no i dont want an unreliable test performed by an untrained person that are attempting to remove dna samples from deep inside my head! F*^k off!

The best fine that could be applied for refusing he test is, cut their Medicare card in half and bin it. Refusal should mean mandatory 14 days in guarded quarantine.

What type of individual would refuse a Covid test in the middle of this current climate? Just do it and get on your way! 👥

Why are they allowed to travel here from Victoria anyway?

I think we will find these will not be paid once challenged in court. I don't agree with people refusing simple (albiet uncomfortable) test AT ALL... But international human rights laws are quite clear about a person's right to refuse any form of medical treatment - even tests.

The SA covid19 car strikes

we are not against people killing themsleves catching covid, what we are against is them killing themsleves and the other people around them whist doing it!!!

Yep DanielAndrewsMP Fines for refusal to be tested!

Fines for refusing test. Best news all day.

Victoria should follow suit, as our cases are unacceptably high because test are not mandatory after arrival from overseas and after finishing quarantine period to prevent breakout in the commuity. I would of thought that mandatory covid testing would be prudent in a pandemic!!!

These are great excuses to belittle individual rights. How far will govt's take this. Just like the penal days.

Good money in coronavirus these days.💲💲💲💲💲

New coronavirus cases in Victoria hit record high with two new deathsVictoria has recorded 317 new coronavirus cases overnight, the biggest increase since the pandemic began, as two men in their 80s die from the virus. Stage 10 lockdown time !!!! For goodness sake Victoria, stay home. If you cannot, get your distance right, wear a mask. Get serious. This is not a drill. I would suggest it will be higher yet b4 it begins to fall. However, we are certainly much better off than a lot of countries so a bit of perspective here puts us in a far better position. I’m sick of the pathetic MSM exaggerating the situation for political point scoring.auspol

Crossroads hotel outbreak continues to grow as NSW records 15 new COVID-19 casesThe south-west Sydney cluster is a more infectious form of the virus than previously seen, NSW's Chief Health Officer says, as that state recorded 15 new cases of COVID-19. Health officials clearly have no handle on this virus. Why are we just learning now that COVID19 now has different levels of infectiousness and we are running hell bent towards a vaccine! Bizarre As the tests do not diagnose any particular strand of corona , they are probably finding the H1N1 flu which is around and way more infectious. Troubling is doctors are saying they are not allowed to test pple for flu ❤️ Melbourne COVID19Aus COVID19Vic ❤️
