The Nationals will push the Morrison government to develop a new drought funding model amid growing discontent over the way the crisis is being handled.

Demands include urging the Morrison government to establish local community drought committees in local council areas worst affected by the crisis.

The committees would be made up of mayors, community leaders, charity groups, federal and state MPs. The policy suggestion comes amid growing unrest in the Nationals ranks. Image: Getty
