Exclusive: Nationals MP George Christensen vetoes release of AFP travel inquiry documents auspol

Nationals MP George Christensen has blocked the release of information about a federal police probe into his frequent travels to the Philippines over a four-year period.

Federal police looked into his travel for more than a year including visits to areas known for their active nightlife and bar districts.have been trying, under Freedom of Information laws, to access police records and a letter sent by the AFP to Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton in mid-2018. Former AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin confirmed in April he had briefed senior Coalition government figures on George Christensen's travel. The Office of the Information Commissioner is reviewing the AFP decision, but has said it could take another seven months to decide if that letter should be in the public domain, even though Parliament has been advised of its existence by the AFP.

The then Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Martin Parkinson, Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack, former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce and Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton were all briefed on the police probe.Mr Christensen was also advised by the AFP in mid-2018 his travel could put him at risk of blackmail. In April, Mr Colvin told an estimates hearing inquiries had found "no evidence of wrongdoing" and "no evidence of criminal behaviour".

London Bridge terror attack an example of 'judicial failings' | Sky News AustraliaThe UK judicial system failed when it allowed convicted terrorist Usman Khan, who carried out a deadly attack on London Bridge on Friday, out early despite warnings that he posed a risk to the public.\n\nThe 28-year-old was a convicted terrorist who was released from prison less than 12 months ago.\n\nHe killed two people during a rampage on Friday before being shot dead by police.\n\nIn 2012, Khan pleaded guilty to preparing an act of terror, namely travelling to and attending operational meetings, fundraising for terrorist training, preparing to travel abroad and assisting others in travelling abroad.\n\nSky News host Rita Panahi said the decision to release Khan in the first place was 'not good enough'.\n\n'This is the system in the UK, it's not good enough,' she said.\n\n\n\n\n The person who committed this crime not because he's a Muslim, but because he's a dangerous thief. He's responsible for his behavior and his act alone and it's wrong to accuse Muslims.. This is very analogous to taking back ISIS fighters' families from Syria and releasing them back into their country of nationality. They are not worth it. The UK judicial system should be obliged to back up their decisions with an undertaking to do life sentences should their decisions prove to be bad ones such as this one.

Heros all. 👏👏👏 Not all Londoners would do this. Some Londoners do what the terrorist did. I think ANY Londoner would do the same or would want to do the same. There are some ppl living in London who aren’t Londoners & would do or support the dead terrorist. Clerics will be loudly using their Scriptures to condemn this yeah? Or was it just mental illness
