MPs have once again rejected British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's demand for a snap general election next month.

MPs have once again rejected British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's demand for a snap general election next month. In late-night proceedings, the House of Commons voted by 293 to 46 in favour of the prime minister's motion calling for an early election on October 15. However, under law, Mr Johnson required the support of 434 MPs — two-thirds of all 650 — in order to send the country to the polls.

His failure to reach the threshold, due to the united efforts of opposition parties to thwart his request, means there will now be no general election before the United Kingdom's scheduled departure from the European Union on 31 October. Under legislation passed by opposition MPs and Tory rebels last week, the prime minister will be compelled to request a further three-month delay to Brexit from the EU if he fails to strike a divorce deal with the bloc by October 19.

Boris Johnson loses second attempt to force snap electionBREAKING: British MPs have voted against an early election in a new blow for Boris Johnson. What I don't get is, if those who are against Brexit wants to stop Johnson, why don't they want an early election to strengthen their numbers in a new parliament? Are they scared that the Conservatives and the Brexit Party will strengthen theirs? They know what will happen if an election happens. Traitors to their own nation. Just my 2c
