Labor is calling on ScottMorrisonMP to take action against Agriculture Minister Bridget McKenzie after it was revealed she ran a “parallel” process to Sport Australia prior to the election.

Labor is calling on Scott Morrison to take action against Agriculture Minister Bridget McKenzie after it was revealed she ran a “parallel” process to Sport Australia prior to the election.

The Nationals Senator – and then sport minister – is under fire after an Australian National Audit review found a distribution bias in 684 grants to grassroots sporting clubs, and found 61 per cent of the decisions made ignored Sport Australia’s advice. Labor frontbencher Tony Burke told Sky News Mr Morrison needed to explain why Ms McKenzie should remain in the ministry. “We don’t want to wait for parliament before there is action here,” he said.

Chinese emissions to grow at 'five times Australia's' | Sky News AustraliaSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Chinese emissions are estimated to grow 'one billion tonnes' or 'five times our electricity emissions' per year 'just based on their natural growth'.\n\nMr Clennell said Prime Minister Scott Morrison was being 'overly optimistic' when he suggested China produced the same emissions in nine days as Australia did in a year. \n\n'It'd be more like five or six days,' he said.\n\nMr Clennell said China was responsible for 30 per cent of the world's carbon dioxide emissions while Australia was responsible for just 1.2 per cent.\n\n'The Prime Minister's point has validity and is kind of scary, I guess, in saying there's not much he can do,' he said. \n\n Sadly it’s come to this. Why would I believe a single thing the Murdoch media ever said? Particularly when it comes to climate science. ... dumb commentary, that doesn’t take any of the past 20 years of climate negotiations into account. Thanks for wasting my time, Perhaps we should stop giving them so much coal then......

Bushfires may affect Australia's AAA credit rating | Sky News AustraliaCredit rating agency Moody’s fears Australia’s credit rating could be affected if bushfire seasons become more severe.\n\nIn a statement Moody’s said: “Taking into account both the direct costs and indirect loss of revenue, we estimate that the cost of the bushfires will reduce Australia’s general government’s fiscal balance overall by around 0.1 per cent of GDP per year in the next two fiscal years”.\n\n“More frequent and severe natural disasters are likely to result in rising and recurring costs, testing the capacity of state and federal governments to pay the debts”.\n\nMoody’s still maintains its AAA credit rating for Australia, New South Wales and Victoria but could revise its assessment if natural disasters do become more severe.\n\nRival agency Standard & Poor’s however is more optimistic, saying affected states will be able to service the bushfire recovery costs and their credit ratings would not be affected.\n \nImage: Getty\n Typical bloody banker Ohh the irony.
