Australia's climate policies face scrutiny as Morrison invited to the 'big table' of the G7

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife Jenny at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Thursday. He wants the group - the leaders of the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and Japan – to put aside recent bickering and make progress on the big problems: the fraying of the liberal world order, the question of how to tax the internet, and the threat of climate change.

While Australia is happy to talk about plastics and protecting the ocean, its climate policies will come under heavy scrutiny, as Macron seeks allies to try to budge US president Donald Trump on the issue. An Australian government source said another “digital transformation” session would push forward with New Zealand’s “Christchurch Call” to eliminate terrorist and violent content online.
