‘Christian heritage’ replaced by multi-faith in civics courseFocus on different perspectives, such as contested nature of Anzac DayA proposal to give First Nations Australians’ history and culture far greater emphasis in the national curriculum and teach students that many saw settlement as invasion will test Australians’ willingness to move on from culture wars and embrace a shared understanding of the country’s future, education experts say.
They failed to recognise that “the First Peoples of Australia experienced colonisation as invasion and dispossession of land, sea and sky,” said a summary of the proposed changes to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cross-curricular priority, which is taught across key disciplines. Year 4 students will study the significance of trade to First Nations Australians, rather than a world navigator, while year 10 students will study how popular culture encouraged First Nations Australians to become provocative - citing Bangarra Dance Theatre as an example - rather than post-WWII popular culture.which told his story of disengagement from Australia’s education system, said the new content couldn’t come soon enough.

Secular is good
Good!
Australia has always been a multi faith country since the British settlement. Many of those that came were Christians, many that came were Jewish, many were atheists. Let's keep it in perspective. Religion should been taught as a subject not dominated by any particular strand
I am very confused, so future kids should learn about colonisation of Australia and the harms done to aborigines as these are real history. On the other hand, let’s deny the Christian heritage which is also real history...errrrr
Wait what? Take it out of the consitution first you numpties.
Good move.
Australia does have a Christian heritage. That is a fact. History should not fabricate or lie about facts. I am not a Christian myself. If we said that East Timor was not one skerrick affected by Portuguese culture that would be lying. Madness of North Korean ilk is infecting us!
