Retired Army major general JimMolan will return to Canberra after being chosen to fill the NSW senate vacancy, replacing A_Sinodinos

Conservative Jim Molan has been elected to fill the Senate vacancy left by the retiring Liberal Arthur Sinodinos.

Mr Molan defeated former party state director Richard Shield 321 votes to 260. The retired Army major general briefly served in the Senate but missed out on securing a winnable position on the NSW upper house ticket. Image: News Corp
