A man with severe mental health issues who killed a man in 2002 and escaped while on day release from a mental health facility in the state's west on Monday has been found at a hotel in Sydney's west.
Police have located Michael Striker at a hotel in Parramatta after he went missing on Monday while on day release from a hospital in the state's west.NSW Police located Mr Striker at a hotel on Anderson Street, Parramatta, about 11am on Wednesday and arrested him. He is expected to be returned to the mental health facility.
The court heard Mr Striker had a long history of mental illness and spent time in psychiatric facilities in Britain, Western Australia and Queensland.
