You're not imagining it if you live on Australia's east coast– it has not been a very hot season by the numbers.
The reason for the rather sluggish rise in temperatures over the past few months has primarily been due to the continued presence of our third La Niña in as many years. This occurs when the ring of westerly winds that swirl the Antarctic are hugged closer against the south pole, and often goes hand in hand with La Niña.
But as the season draws to a close, all signs are pointing to both La Niña and the SAM reverting to neutral.
richwal94842899 OMG,you mean we might get summer this year?
Good its been cold
When did we start using the term 'Heatwave'? Are we going to see that heatwaves only started in 2000 or whenever the term started, because of global warming.
That's why its not Global Warming anymore haha Narrative wouldn't hold up. Australia is a land of volatile weather, learn to live with it.
Summertime awesome 😎 🌞
I grew up in the New England region and this time of year you could have 4 seasons in one day It’s a normal Feb Summer
I remember it this way in Feb. sometimes cold and sometimes hot. I know because I arrived to this country wearing summer clothes and I was freezing. No climate emergency people
4th 'unseasonably' cold summer for Melbourne in a row....how many do we need before it becomes 'the new normal' ?
So in other words..... summer conditions in summer?
It all very Australian.
