Russian Oleg Pulatov is 'lurking in the early morning fog' of a defence that he could mount later against murder charges over Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 disaster, Dutch prosecutors say. 9News

The four are being tried in absentia in the Netherlands for co-ordinating a Buk-TELAR missile launcher used to bring down the plane, killing all 298 aboard, including 38 who called Australia home.

Public prosecutor Ward Ferdinandusse, right, waits for the trial to resume at the high security court building at Schiphol Airport, near Amsterdam, Monday, June 8, 2020, for three Russians and a Ukrainian charged with crimes including murder for their alleged roles in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine nearly six years ago

Prosecutor Ward Ferdinandusse says those requests don't help the Russian advance any specific legal defence or prima facie case of an alternative crash scenario. "As he says himself, the result of these investigations could be the MH17 cannot have been hit by a Buk missile."
