Expansive harbour views, infinity pools, saunas, steam rooms, climate-controlled wine cellars: Sydney is in the grip of a building boom at the very pointy end of the market, where no expense is being spared.

Because a few neighbours in Vaucluse bitterly complained about losing their views, Kamenev tweaked his plans by lowering the three-level home, decreasing its impact on sight lines to finally get the green light to build in December 2018. 13, 13a and 15 and 15a [behind] Coolong Road, Vaucluse. The owners banded together to sell to them to Leon Kamenev for $80 million.

That's on top of the $80 million it cost Kamenev - who pocketed $470 million when selling his stake in Menulog in 2015 - to secure the site, amalgamating four blocks into one.
