Maori voyages to the southernmost continent may have dated as far back as the seventh century - long before Europeans made their way there in the early 19th century, according to research published this week in theThe first confirmed sighting of mainland Antarctica has long been attributed to a Russian expedition in 1820, and the first record of a person stepping onto Antarctica is credited to an American explorer in 1821.

"We find Polynesian narratives of voyaging between the islands include voyaging into Antarctic waters by Hui Te Rangiora and his crew on the vessel, likely in the early seventh century," lead researcher and conservation biologist Priscilla Wehi said .

‘Green warriors’ need to be ‘aware of the realities’ around climate change | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Smith says “green warriors” need to be patient and “aware of the realities” when it comes to climate change as the “pitfalls” of solar energy are discovered.\n\n“I know that per capita, Australia has put more solar panels on residential premises than any other nation on the planet,” he said.\n\n“This week, a global solar risk assessment, published by solar news outlet PVTECH, reported that solar assets are experiencing higher than expected rates of degradation.\n\n“And as to achieving promised outputs, it showed that one in eight solar assets chronically underperform.”\n\nMr Smith also noted that in Australia, it was reported a health check audit of NSW Green Schemes has uncovered several projects which have been red-flagged, facing serious risk of implementation failure.\n\n“It’s all well and good to talk up a green future, but before they start closing all the coal fired power stations and gas projects, the harsh reality needs exposing,” he said.\n\n“And as for being regarded as baseload capable, don’t kid yourself, this morning wind and solar contributed between seven and eight per cent to the national grid.”\n When I believe the most stupid opinion has been heard, Chris Smith bares all and exposes his ignorance once again. More Fake Arguments..... Chris ...Lying by omission are we? That degradation you failed to mention was an increase from ~0.5% to ~1% for domestic and even less for commercial. More misinformation: That under performance had nothing to do with the technology but its location and how it was stored.
