A man who violently and repeatedly raped a tourist in Alice Springs eight years ago has been released on parole, one year before his sentence was due to end.Justice Jenny Blokland said his actions had created a a picture of 'inappropriate beliefs'The ABC understands the man, who was released on Tuesday, now resides in the Alice Springs area.

He repeatedly punched the victim and forced her to walk with him to a laneway, where he attempted to strangle, threatened to kill and then raped her.He then took the victim back to her campervan, where he repeatedly assaulted her again. "The pain, severity and consequences of the attacks on the victim must have been immense. She thought she was going to be killed … It's no wonder that she felt this fear. That is what he told her he would do."
