A man has been described as extremely lucky to be alive after he fought off a crocodile by gouging its eyes during a fishing trip at a remote Cape York beach.

A Queensland Parks and Wildlife ranger has escaped the jaws of a crocodile by gouging its eyes before driving more than an hour for help in far north Queensland. The 54-year-old was flyfishing when he was bitten by a 2.5-metre crocodile on the leg, arm and handHe is in a serious but stable condition at Cairns Hospital where he is expected to have surgery

Another ranger then drove him south to Bramwell Station to wait for a Royal Flying Doctor Service plane. "His hands were wrapped up and we were teasing him about that, saying 'Are you sure you have all your fingers?'" "There wouldn't be many people in Cape York that could say they have had an interaction with a crocodile like this and still be talking about it," Superintendent Martin said.

Man in stable condition after being shot in arm by WA PoliceA man is in a stable condition after WA police shot him in the arm in Perth's southern suburbs. Police never really know what danger they will face on a daily basis, even their training can't foresee every situation, just glad there appears to be no serious injury in this case. keep up the good but mainly thankless work 👍👍. Nice to think the arm was the aim with the integrity to not be judge & jury & to not see the public as possible killers . Few are . Nice work! There seems to be alot of slow learners comming under the attention of police lately

Yuendumu man in critical condition after being shot by NT Police officersThe Indigenous community of Yuendumu is concerned about the welfare of a man who has been shot by police officers and is being held inside the locked police station. The locals need to get their business in order, medical staff have to leave because your own people are too violent. Police aren't able to go outside because your town is too violent. I'm sure the standard response will be to blame the white man as usual Please tell us why he is at once a teenager And a man. He’s 19 years old ffs, never mind legal categorisations, and we need to know what happened here. And why were his people not given access?
