Police search for a shooter after an 18-year-old man, who was standing on a unit balcony, is shot in the arm from a neighbouring apartment.

Police are searching for a shooter on Queensland's Gold Coast after a man was shot in the arm on a hotel balcony from a neighbouring apartment.

Police received reports of a shooting at a hotel on Cavill Avenue at Surfers Paradise just before 11:00pm on Saturday. They said an 18-year-old man had been standing on a unit balcony when a gun was fired from a neighbouring apartment. The man was hit on the upper left arm and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Gold Coast University Hospital.The Gold Coast Highway was closed between Thomas Drive and Beach Road as officers responded.
