Man 'haunted' by memory of alleged sex assault on girl warned not to be a vigilante

A Mildura man — still scarred by the aftermath of an alleged sexual assault on an eight-year-old girl 40 years ago — has been told not to seek justice on his own.A 58-year-old man demanded $250,000 to remain silent about an alleged historic sexual assault

The court heard the shame of not having intervened in the assault had contributed to the accused's "complex" PTSD The court heard the 58-year-old threatened to go to the police with allegations that his cousin molested an eight-year-old girl in an inner-suburban flat when he was 16.The alleged sex assault occurred in 1980 while the Mildura man was staying at his cousin's home in Kensington during a trip with a friend to watch cricket.

He said he "felt something bad was happening" and, after she left the room, the girl allegedly told him she was made to perform a sex act.

No winners in this. Another tortured soul who others might judge as crazy. We need to look after these people. 💔
