A man has been arrested just metres from where another man’s body was found on a road in a suspected hit-and-run in Sydney’s southwest. The victim, believed to be aged in his 20s, was found with serious injuries at the intersection of Pritchard St and Hemphill Ave, Mount Pritchard about 3am on Wednesday. Paramedics rushed to the intersection, however, the man was already deceased when they arrived. Police said the man had suffered “significant” injuries to his torso and head.

It’s understood detectives had earlier spoken with the man, asking to review his security video but he claimed it didn’t work. Forensic crews continue to comb the scene and the man’s driveway for evidence. Inspector Benjamin McIntyre earlier on Wednesday said officers believe the incident was a hit-and-run. “We’re working on the theory that he was hit by a motor vehicle and that motor vehicle has failed to stop,” he said on Wednesday morning.
