A 24-year-old man accused of murdering another young man on the street in a north Queensland town intends to fight the charges, a court hears.

Police alleged Caleb Rutherford stabbed Josh Hyde in the stomach while the 20-year-old was walking with two women near Ingham's town centre late on Sunday night.Mr Hyde died a short time later in hospital and a homicide investigation was launched.

After a four-day police search, Mr Rutherford handed himself in at the Ingham police station on Thursday morning and was charged with murder later that day. He was taken to the Townsville watchhouse and had his case mentioned in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Friday morning.Solicitor Jamie Scuderi appeared on his behalf, saying Mr Rutherford denied the allegations.

Mr Scuderi said solicitors needed time to speak with investigating officers before requesting a brief of evidence."I am seeking a two-week adjournment, during that time I would like an opportunity to correspond with one of the investigating officers and the prosecution, with respect, with further information that may assist with the investigations in this matter."No application for bail was made, and the man was remanded in custody.

Why kill the fkn croc? It's his patch snd he's doing what comes naturally! Why do humans always want to kill every animal that kills a human? The animal is in it's home, humans invade and it either defends itself or kills for food, that's what apex predators do... The solution is simple, stay away from their territory! We don't own everything ffs!!
