One of the world’s largest rideshare companies, Ola, has announced it is pulling back from the Australian market in an email sent to customers. It is understood Australians will not be able to book an Ola from Friday, April 12. Customers who received the email were warned by the company not to get in the car with anyone claiming to be an Ola driver after that date.

Customers will still be able to access their account information for tax and business purposes until May 11, according to the email. “After 11th May 2024, you will no longer have access to your app,” it said. Ola is yet to comment publicly on the email but has been contacted by 7NEWS.com.au. The company was launched in India in 2011, before expanding into Australia with operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. It also has operations in NZ and the UK.
