Australian swimming star Mack Horton will not have a chance to defend his 400 metres freestyle gold medal after finishing third in the final at the national team trials.

Olympic champion Mack Horton won't be able to defend his gold medal after finishing third in the final of the men's 400m freestyle at the Australian swimming trials in Adelaide.

"Very happy for the boys. Jack works his arse off, and he's been working his arse off for years and Elijah's obviously super talented and coming up through it, so hopefully they can keep creating the 400 legacy for Australia," Horton said. "It's going to be a competition and I know that if you make it in the team in the 400 in Australia you are very much in contention for an Olympic medal, let alone an Olympic gold," he said.

Okay, so what? Not happy, leave. Then, regret, then begging for the public’s sympathy then make a come back then become a role model! What a cycle! 💩 I vote that we get rid of all these 'elite' sports programs and redirect the funding to amateur sports programs especially those that get kids involved. Olympic medals mean bugger all to most people. Problem solved. Here's an idea: how about we all actually listen to what she has to say, process it and reflect on how, in our own lives, we can make a change for the better. Some of these comments show you are part of the problem

Not sure who you are but you must show some evidence otherwise how can one defend one's self not fair. never heard of her is she Julia Gillards lover? it's easy to throw out these words as an excuse for your own failures but where is your evidence?
