The Mayor of London's Press Office has hit back at headlines that there's 'no room' for a Queen Elizabeth II statue, clarifying Sadiq Khan 'stands ready to support' the Royal Family's wishes.

The Mayor of London has declared he"stands ready" to support the wishes of the Royal Family after receiving backlash for resisting calls for a statue of the late Queen on Trafalgar Square's Fourth Plinth.

Mr Khan on Wednesday said the Fourth Plinth - which has showcased contemporary artworks since 1999 - would not feature the UK's longest-reigning monarch"for the foreseeable future".
