MORNING BRIEFING: The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) receives about 400 calls for help in Sydney overnight after severe storms lash the coast, while rapper Big Kash is recovering after being shot twice in the arm in Warwick Farm.

The NSW State Emergency Service said it received about 400 calls for help in Sydney overnight after severe storms lashed the coast.

The worst of the damage was in the Illawarra and South Coast, where there had been 36 rescues, six of those overnight, mostly from people driving into flood waters.A NSW SES spokesperson said it would be keeping a close watch on swollen rivers and the St Georges basin for further flooding risks today.A rapper is recovering from being shot twice in the arm after having dinner with a friend in south-west Sydney.

NSW Police confirmed a 32-year-old man was shot in his forearm and elbow on Saturday evening while sitting in a Mercedes Benz. The Bureau of Meterology's Jiwon Park said forecasters had also been anticipating snow in areas including Oberon in the Central Tablelands and Barrington Tops.
