Senator Lidia Thorpe says the Greens' support for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament is at odds with activists who are demanding 'treaty before Voice'. Follow live.

By Jessica Riga"Greens MPs, members and supporters have told me they want to support the Voice. This is at odds with the community of activists who are saying treaty before Voice," she says.

"This is the message delivered on the streets on January 26 full stop. This was the movement I was raised in, my elders marched for a treaty. This is who I am. "I am not announcing my final position on the Voice today. I want to continue my negotiations with the government. "First Nations sovereignty is crucial but so is saving lives today. They could do that by implementing the Royal Commission into Aboriginal deaths in custody, and the recommendations from the Bringing them Home report. Simple."

Australia vote in a Greens Senator Now they got nothin’ but ….. bugga’d if I know

I hope people realise her dad was European I believe, she is not full blooded indigenous person no disrespect meant

Is nearly everyone actually getting that word wrong? Is there not some solid connection between that word, the person, the country, and the Abrahamic, god? You know like, one is supposed to believe in all 4.

while preaching about law enforcement and in a partnership with a bikie boss !? i’m confused - what does she stand for?

So she's an ethno nationalist. More and more she looks like a Nazi.

I love that even whacky, weirdo Greens voters are like '...nah, too far...' lol. Lydia, you really are a fruitcake.

I'm a little confused, so please if someone could help: if she is sovereign citizen that would mean she does not follow or believe in law or government BUT she is in government trying to change the law, not my confusion: isnt that a contradiction? Like ministers wanting Republic

I find it funny that she opposes a voice for Indigenous people but says she's their voice - thats arrogant and misleading If she wants them to have a voice then listen to them and support The Voice

This blak sovereign thing is going to be pretty cringe with her leading it. It will be interesting to see what happens if members the group get involved in some of the old political violence.

'Our' ABC will probably hire her as an objective reporter on Indigenous Affairs.

I didn’t realise she had chromosome issues until I saw this photo. Now I understand how the criminal bottom feeders are using her

Well done Lidia The greens have been ass licking Labor to ad nauseum Our First Nation People deserve a treaty

Fine. As long as we hear of something new and some original thinking.

The contemporary Greens don’t remotely resemble the party of Bob Brown which has allowed racists and fringe dwellers to hijack policy agenda and preselection. You reap what you sow.

Go Lydia !

Supposed indigenous Senator lies to voters should be the headline. She was voted in only because she was a greens candidate otherwise she wouldn't have got a shoe in the door. The sooner this loser with her own agenda is gone from the senate the better

She needs to pay the rent

On ya bike

Shame we didn’t notice she was restricted.

If she resigned then she should simply disappear. She was elected to represent her constituents on a green plat form, but all she has done is gob off about white folk. Nothing but a racist opportunistic griffter.

this clown show has been her holding back?

I just can’t wait!!

On ya bike

ABC has got a bunch of indigenous singing 'We are one We are Australian' For ABC woke devotion with so n so country n nations they are promoting SEPARATISM We'd become like fractured Africa with tinpot dictators

Why didn’t she stand as an independent at the election? Guess she’s played the Greens.

Bandt was never going to control her she used the Greens to get elected and always had her own agenda, it's all about Lydia the Marxist it seems.

There was no need to fight to begin with. She’s doing more harm than good to the Aboriginal movement.

As long as we get sovereignty, I don't care how it's done.

Hopefully her speaking freely won't affect the result of the referendum.

No one will be listening anymore. She's turned herself into a pariah and won't be voted back into office once her term is up. LidiaThorpe auspol aupol

There is a truth 8n that

Thorpe forgets she was elected for all the people of Victoria

I would like to know what percentage of Lidia Thorpe is Aboriginal because from her appearance it does not appear to be very much at all. Could this all be bull....?

With such a 'lunatic fringe' loose cannon in their ranks the Greens are probably glad to be rid of her. It looks like she was disingenuous when she was a Greens candidate. She also only speaks for herself and not for Indigenous Australia.

Such a self absorbed person. She will run her mouth and the whole country will hate her 🤣

😹😹 watching these leftists destroy themselves, squabbling over their hierarchy of oppression is the ultimate schadenfreude

She will push the country to the No side - thought of her as one of the 'voice' representatives is terrifying. VoteNo

now everyone knows what's the true color of the Greens

Mabo is not enough they want to be indep sovereign black nations within Oz What a mess? Look at Africa or the land wars in Europe Messy Jewish plots dotted inside Palestine

She's a disgrace. What a way to treat the voters who wanted to be represented by a Greens senator.

I've gone through all the replies on all MSM sites. Literally, no one had anything positive to say about her. Who the f**k voted for her?

Nothing more than a biker's moll.

Oh Lidia oh Lidia…

I do wonder to what extent that it is legal for an elected politician to take a 'foreign' sovereignty position?

She sounds alright when she is not so irate. Good luck as an alternative 'voice'

🍿🪑 VoteNo

Ballsy. I like her ;p Not sure I'd vote for her but she's got guts. An Australian Party for Aboriginal People. Makes sense. She will be up against LibLab now ;p

She has lost the plot, the female Aboriginal equivalent of Cory Bernardi.

Lidia Thorpe knows zero about speaking but EVERYTHING about screaming, ranting diatribes Its her go to method of jamming her opinions down the collective throats of Australians. Nobody asked you,no one cares & no one wants to hear your divisive drivel auspol VoiceToParliament

This Senator wasn’t elected to the Senate on her own, it was apart of a party ticket, she should only be allowed to resign, and be replaced, not branch out on her own!

Lidia Thorpe announces resignation from The GreensSenator Lidia Thorpe has announced her resignation from The Greens over her stance on the Voice to Parliament. “I am resigning from The Greens to sit on the Senate crossbench,” she said during a media conference on Monday. She’s going to sit on the cross bench try the dunny she’s better suited 😵‍💫 Woohoo bugger off 🙂 The constitution is a rule book for governing. It serves all Australians equally. Singling out any group, no matter how well meaning, is repugnant. We have the same voice to parliament… one vote, one value. With the details hidden until after the vote, you’d be nuts to vote yes.
