Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced Chinese Premier Li Qiang will visit Australia on June 15, becoming the first Premier to make the trip in seven years.

Rumours of a visit had swirled for months prior to Mr Albanese's confirmation on Tuesday, with Canberra and Beijing having made a number of strides toward improving relations over the past two years. "Premier Li Qiang’s visit to Australia is an important opportunity to engage directly on key issues for both our nations," he said.
