Everyone stop, and repeat after me: There is no crisis of free speech. Freedom of religion has not been suppressed. Political correctness has not gone mad. Yet here we are again, writes timsout

Everyone stop, and repeat after me: There is no crisis of free speech. Freedom of religion has not been suppressed. Political correctness has not gone mad.

That still seems to be some way off. The Morrison government has yet to find for itself an agenda beyond its tax cuts. It seems content to focus the post-election attention on a Labor opposition still grappling with what it stands for. This leaves a vacuum that culture warriors are only too happy to fill. We’ve seen it on the education front, with a push for a free speech code for universities.

Don’t just take it from me. Ask Robert French, the former High Court chief justice who led the government’s review into universities. His report found that “claims of a freedom of speech crisis on Australian campuses are not substantiated”.As for Folau, there has been no shortage of conservatives – and some progressives – who have backed his cause.

timsout Comedy gold in Chairman Tim's article. timsout should know about confected outrage and knee-jerk reactions being one of their leading proponents.

timsout The QUT students crucified by the AHRC May have a different view on freedom of speech. BernardGaynor May disagree on both free of speech and religious freedom.

timsout Bla bla bla

timsout Greed and Hypocrisy

timsout ... writes The Age and Fairfax. (fixed it for you)

timsout We already have freedom of speech and religion - perhaps someone just wanted to cause argument I can see the new Izzy foleau Christian religion tv show coming - praaaaissse the lord u heathens

timsout Tell Timmy to get used to normal people not putting up with his & his mates bullshit.

timsout broke your contract your employer sacked you! Thats it Australian Christian Lobby

kwingerei timsout I think there’s at least a couple of million dollars from quiet Australians that politely and quietly disagree, and they don’t go raising that amount of money over what they perceive to be ‘nothing’, so will be interesting to see regardless of outcome..

nickjatan timsout Yep just BS

timsout Australia does not have free speech.

timsout You TOTALLY rock Tim Soutphommasane! Many thanks for standing and delivering when it comes to protecting minorities. This time: our friends, colleagues and neighbours LGBTQ. FrBower timsout NotOnOurWatch

timsout What a load of Political BRAIN WASHING CRAP. DONT TRY AND PUSH THAT CRAP OCER ME.

Triplejay58 timsout

Triplejay58 timsout If there is no crisis in freedom of speech then why is the Folau issue an issue?

timsout

timsout Why are we talking about fairy stories

timsout People either your a Christian that believes what he said. Or your don’t believe what he said. If you don’t believe what he said then where is the harm?

timsout I thought in the case of Bettina 4 students were punished by the University for their behaviour and the report 'recommended a national code to strengthen protections around free academic expression in response to growing fears'?

timsout Tim Soutphommasane: routinely the nastiest, most pernicious anagram on Twitter

timsout Erm.... yes it has.

timsout yet say something 'offensive' (i.e Andrew Bolt) and 18C takes you off your old Volks Court of Public Wokeness. Not a 'crisis' (in a people dragged away by Stasi way) but your framing trick disguises the many serious issues.

timsout What planet are you from. O that’s right your from the left who can talk about anything and not loss your job.

timsout and timsout, really religious freedom hasn’t been suppressed by media outlets etc... explain to me why your family left there countries, wasn’t religious freedom one of the reason... get off it mate... you now want to be left wing spastic and want to deny everything...

timsout Tim the race baiter?

timsout Rugby Aus removing Folau due to disagreement about homosexuals is not a problem for me. That should be their right. The problem for free speech is when Police demand $50k+ fees to fend off would be protesters. A big hurdle for freedom of speech/gathering

timsout ❤️

timsout Timmy is our king-hell ethnic grievance grifter! Also when will robots replace 3rd tier The Drum/SMH column writers?

timsout Yes, Supreme Leader timsout. You're wiser & kinder than my mum & dad. You're the light of my life.

timsout He wasn’t worried about free speech when he WILLINGLY posed for this -

timsout That works both ways. Queer politics is an indefatigable political force. Playing the victim, as Israel always does, plays well on social media.

timsout Yes it has and if sports let sponsors rule them they will continue to fail with the public

timsout It has been at RA. And PC has always been mad.

timsout Folau and his supportures are the only true Australian. NotFirst nation people, not the gay people of all cultures. Does this sound like he wants to shove his beliefs down every bodies throat would you trust him to look after your wealth.

timsout Correct until his 'go fund me' was cancelled....corporations should not be controlling speech / activism on public access like platforms.

timsout Religious freedoms are no longer

timsout Money! Hypochrite? I say so.

timsout

timsout Don’t know how many times it needs to be said that Folau had a genuine opportunity to be a spokesman for freedom of speech in the workplace however the situation has become a farce and he is now nothing more than a homophobic bigot who deserves no respect or rights

timsout Only the left will say such a thing

timsout Israel has everyone bent out of shape and hissing, it’s an interesting watch to see how very fragile and angry people are these days.

timsout ...then why won’t the media leave it alone? If it’s not an issue, don’t publish anymore of it. This IS about religion, Christianity specifically, look at the slaughter of Christians world wide the mainstream media won’t publish.

timsout Tim is not a real academic. He is an anti white anti Christian anti western world activist. He needs a big dose of his leftist medicine. What would Saul Alinsky say to do with him?

timsout Tim sout only fans anti white hate. Anti Christian hate

timsout REALLY? You’ve been living under a rock then!!

timsout

timsout I won't get all technical like Tim but I will simply say .. 'everyone has FREEDOM OF SPEECH everywhere in the World, it just depends if you are 'prepared to suffer the consequences' and if you are, go for it, because I will till the day I die .. Amen?.. MATT 28:19-20 .. Amen?

timsout Rugby Australia has only themselves to blame.....a knee jerk reaction without consultation.

I am a teacher and this is what I know about students and mobile phonesBanning mobile phones in schools is straight from the alarmist's book of bandaid solutions. Let's find a better one, writes Dan Hogan. Lets not. People are consumed by their mobiles. case in point two parents walking two small children in a pram there was no communication between them or their children. They were texting on their mobiles as they walked. I was surprised that they did not trip over anything. Its also the use of online sites including quizzes and reviews to test knowledge/get feedback. Once another class 'hacked' into our session. Many of these 'tasks' foster competition to be recognised for anything right down to the identity handle created rather than develop skills Distraction is one of the biggest hurdles for students, particularly high school students. The less time on a phone, the better.

‘I am a black African woman who is unstable … who needs to be controlled’Explosive audio has emerged of an Australian model hurling obscenities and referring to a flight attendant as a “white trash b***h” on a US-bound plane. 21yrs 😂😂😂😂😂 Yeah right 🖕 21 years for telling the truth Unlike Australia, America will keep you in control with a prison sentence. Wish Australian courts had the balls to lock up offenders for their crimes.
