Golden Eagle winner Obamburumai will have a change of jockey on day one of The Championships next month.

Melbourne jockey Damian Lane will renew his connection with Japanese trainer Keiji Yoshimura and ride Golden Eagle winner Obamburumai in next month’s Doncaster at Randwick.at Rosehill, Lane’s links from riding in Japan have seen him booked for Randwick’s biggest mile.Getty

“However due to the relationship that Damian has built with connections in Japan and the fact he was available for the Doncaster Mile it was decided to give Damian the ride. Parr had been a late replacement for Yutaka Take in the Golden Eagle after the legendary Japanese jockey was injured. On that occasion, Lane was not available as he was booked to ride Amelia’s Jewel.Lane can easily ride the 55kg Obamburumai has been given in the Doncaster and will come to Sydney and ride the $8 chance in a key gallop before day one of The Championships on April 6.
