The Australian columnist Gerard Henderson says a lack of fire reduction burn offs “clearly seems to be an issue in New South Wales,' as fires continue to ravage the state. TheBoltReport

The Australian columnist Gerard Henderson says a lack of fire reduction burn offs “clearly seems to be an issue in New South Wales," as fires continue to ravage the state. “We know what a problem fuel build-up causes and there hasn’t been as much fuel reduction in recent years as there had been in previous years,” Mr Henderson told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

Mr Henderson said in the past, “often opposition [came] from Green groups who don’t particularly like burn offs and fire reductions in the cooler months," and that this may be one contributing factor to increased fire fuel in the nation. Fuel is live and dead vegetation, including twigs, leaves and bark, that accumulates over time. Mr Henderson said the issue of fire fuel loads and hazard reduction burn offs in the nation "certainly should be discussed".

Some news outlets are busy rewriting history - 1984 style. “if you control the past you control the present” - Orwell, George (1949). Nineteen Eighty-Four. A novel.

Yep

I am a firefighter Sorry guys but this is TRUE..... There is a direct link between too much fuel buildup and catastrophic fires. These national parks that are burning have tree bark, leaves, twigs, branches, grasses etc... layered feet deep on the ground. This shouldn't be..

Trump said the same about US fires. Deflection.

Does this bloke get paid by the IPCC.

It's only an 'issue' with the Anti-Science RWNJ's The experts say it's BS auspol

The Australian explains why the burnbacks haven’t happened.

“Idiot has opinion, not backed up by facts.” There, fixed it for you 😉

Clearly! says Gerard, from his inner city mansion.

The peanut gallery is out tonight spreading the usual green BS

Not Gerard again.

Total bullshit

This has been debunked by a range of experts, including the local government officials responsible for these areas (who aren’t Greens incidentally) and fire fighters including the ex NSW Commissioner Greg Mullins. The fire season began early and it was too damn hot.

Perceptive boomer....perceptive

Trumpism Oz style

What would Gerard know, he is clearly wrong.

While I am at it, ItaButtrose can we boot the G-Wank from InsidersABC please, he has shown a lack of credibility through poor analysis for too long.

That's because Henderson hasn't done the research, hasn't listened to the experts.

Wonderful to hear from, Gerard Henderson, one of Australia great climate scientists. Is he still funded by mining? Sadly, the tobacco scam fell away. And next time he mentions Mediscare was a lie I'll remind him that bulk billing is effectively dead. $30 a GP visit these days.

I agree that fire reduction strategies are not correct. Much like water management and power management and age care management and banking and healthcare... after 8 years of federal government you think they could get something right

How about Gerard presents some credible evidence of his piss poor half arsed journo murdocratic postion? journalism

Right wing government has slashed funding to National Parks meaning fire risks aren't as managed as they were. Try finding a park ranger now they are selling fridge magnets to Asian tourists in the gift shop in national parks, it's a right wing mess and putting lives at risk.
