In recent weeks, we have seen a myriad of protests across the country: anti-Israel protests, anti-industry protests and last weekend, a women’s march protesting violence against women. And while that may have slipped his notice, it was grossly evident to the group assembled, and they weren’t buying into it. Similarly, Steven Miles, the Premier of Queensland, was emphatic about violence against women needing to stop and that his government would do everything it could to end this scourge. That is, after Labor has been in power in Queensland for 31 of the last 35 years and four years after Hannah Clarke and her four kids were burned alive in the family car by her abusive ex-partner.
