Hundreds of thousands of casual workers who have been with their employer for more than a year will be able to ask for full or part-time work under an AustralianLabor government. 2600SkyNews

Labor says one in four workers are considered casuals and almost 200,000 casual employees have been with the same employer for more than a decade.

The Opposition also claims more than half of the nation’s 2.6 million casual employees have been with their employer for more than 12 months. Under Bill Shorten’s plan, these workers would be able to ask their boss for full or part-time contracts, provided they’ve met the one-year requirement. It’s not the only uncertainty as Bill Shorten continues his electoral pitch to the nation’s voters.

What remains shrouded in confusion is whether Labor would review the environmental approvals for the Adani coal mineBill Shorten has gone on the record as saying he has no plans to review the details, but that is seemingly at odds with Belinda Hassan. Labor’s candidate for Dawson said last week that the licence appeared to progress quite quickly, suggesting it could be examined to see if the proper due process had been followed.

Labor will crack down on exploitation of foreign workers: Chalmers | Sky News AustraliaShadow Finance Minister Jim Chalmers says he wants to crack down on the exploitation of foreign workers. \n\nMr Chalmers has told Sky News the Labor Party wants to bring the temporary worker threshold up to about $65,000 so there’s no financial incentive to hire foreign workers over locals. \n\nHe says ‘we shouldn’t be using foreign workers when there are local workers available’ because 'it's good for the economy and good for local businesses'. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Remember Shorten has the highest number of approved visa 457 on record when Labor was last in government. Allowing businesses/companies (often fully foreign owned) to bring in unnecessary foreign workers so they can under cut legitimate Australian business doing the right thing is criminal... Don’t bring them in, then they can’t be exploited. How about cracking down on MP
