Threatened Species Commissioner Sally Box says “the scale and severity of these fires is having a huge impact on our native plants and animals”.

Ms Box told Sky News “there are many areas that are still yet to be affected,” so “we need to get on the ground to do those assessments and understand what those impacts are”.

“We are certainly worried about koalas in NSW, southeast Queensland and the ACT, that population is already listed as vulnerable under our national environment legislation. “The minister for the environment said she is very keen to get the koala experts together and look at what that means for the conservation status of the koala and whether it needs to be listed as endangered,” she said.

Well, if the Threatened Species Commissioner had really been concerned she would have insisted on safer cool weather burn offs & demanded clearing of undergrowth & fuel loads to protect fauna from catastrophic level fires. Do your job properly, Sally. You’re to blame.

AnimalsAus have advised that Victorian wildlife in fire affected areas need food dropped off urgently so they can survive,as their food source has gone until the bush regenerates. NSW is food-dropping. DanielAndrewsMP LilyDAmbrosioMP could you please arrange this urgently?🦘🐨
