Australia's energy ministers have agreed to set up a scheme to boost investment in renewables and make the power system more reliable.

Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen and Queensland Energy Minister Mick de Brenni . Energy ministers from around the country have agreed to a 'historic' deal on energy supply, after a meeting in Queensland. The nation's energy ministers have agreed to set up a scheme to boost investment in renewables and make the power system more reliable.

The Energy Security Board ignited the debate that led to the new deal, raising the option of a mechanism to establish a baseline energy storage target amid the shift away from coal and gas plants and turn towards renewable energy. "This is a sensible, carefully designed mechanism, which will unleash investment in clean dispatchable energy right across Australia."A capacity tool had been prepared for the former coalition government but was criticised as going too far in extending the life of ageing coal-fired plants."We need to build more sovereign capability. We need to have plans to deal with supply chain issues," he said.

It's obvious the only way to keep the lights on is to go nuclear. Too many fear mongers bleating about safety. Modern reactors are safe and reliable. 'Renewables' are notoriously unreliable. If the Sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow, they don't work.

This is financial lunacy. Batteries are highly cost in-effective in all domestic and commercial settings from very large to very small. Chris Bowen fully understood this and still went ahead to subsidize them at a national level.....Albo should sacked him for his idiocy

Hang on, what about our power bills. When asked behind closed doors they all laughed .

Increased reliance on so called ' renewables' makes the system LESS reliable not more. Let's say a major thermal plant trips off the grid and the wind stubbornly refuses to blow, what then?

Australia is ‘in a position’ to be a ‘renewable energy superpower’Assistant Trade and Manufacturing Minister Tim Ayres says Australia has “very significant energy reserves”. “We are the sunniest nation on earth with vast solar reserves and vast wind reserves as well,” he told Sky News Australia. “We are in a position – if we get the energy reforms right – to be a renewable energy superpower. “It means lower prices for households and business in Australia – making energy a competitive advantage – but also that we should be in a position to be exporting energy right around the world. “That’s the future for Australia.” But yet we are hell bent on staying in the dark ages and too scared to leave the cave . It's a big world outside of the cave, fear can cripple the same way hope is paralysing. Sticks and stones while the world has drones. My energy bill going up $20 since Labor were elected doesn't feel too super. 'So-and-so says...blah blah blah.'. Is this the standard template for a tweet?

Energy ministers come to 'sensible' agreementThe federal and state energy ministers have agreed in-principle to a capacity mechanism which will “unleash” clean, dispatchable energy across Australia. AlboMP shld give the independent coal companies an incentive if they want to charge higher prices due to Ukraine war. Seeing as we Australians own the coal they can reduce the cost of our coal to us & charge everyone else what they like. If not tear up the licence & contracts. Sensible as in getting these profiteering parasite multinationals out and getting some domestic energy going ? Keep a very close eye on this con job he's only an amateur your bills certainly are going up big time

Power prices, and how to curb them, high on the agenda for energy ministersA lot of eyes will be on energy ministers today, as they take part in the first of two meetings this week between state and federal decision-makers focused on how to avoid skyrocketing power prices. I get a delivery fee which I use to not with the electric company . I really think my house is receiving to much electricity. The back of my small house does not work since this am. No Internet. Back of two rooms plugs do not work .Legal uthenization. 101 - increase supply. Or is that too simple to understand? Career politicians shuffling deckchairs.

More will need to be done to deliver affordable energy than ‘just a price cap’Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor says the government ultimately needs to deliver “enough affordable reliable energy” to reduce energy bills which can’t be done by “just a price cap”. “Ultimately, what you’ve got to be able to deliver is enough affordable, reliable energy to reduce bills,” Mr Taylor told Sky News Australia. “That’s a lot more than just a price cap.” Should the Australian government harness energy from human farts? Man this guy gets it...oh he was in charge for 9 years and didn't do a goddamn thing all that time...malfeasance towards all Aussies Maybe the Cayman Islands can help? ...
