A lot of eyes will be on energy ministers today, as they take part in the first of two meetings this week between state and federal decision-makers focused on how to avoid skyrocketing power prices.

43 minutes agoThe budget forecast power prices would rise by 56 per cent over the next two years.abc.net.au/news/energy-prices-ministers-meeting-national-cabinet/101743018A lot of eyes will be on energy ministers on Thursday, as they take part in the first of two meetings this week between state and federal decision-makers focused on how to avoid skyrocketing power prices.

The aim of both is to reach some kind of agreement about how governments across the board will help reduce power bills for millions of Australians, while not making inflation even worse. As countries in Europe look to further wean themselves off Russian gas, Australian exports have been filling the gaps and benefiting from the high international prices.Anthony Albanese will discuss the issue during national cabinet on Friday.

Whatever the driver, the government is keenly aware that given everyone is also grappling with a rising cost-of-living and wages that aren't keeping up, the forecast jump in power prices could cripple some households and businesses.

Vote Labor out! that's how.

The beginning of the end was appointing boards and creating a market. Markets are 100% ruled by greed.

Consumers don't have influence power over electricty distributors. People with roof top solar get fuck all for their exported energy into the grid. Both states and federal governments have not made laws for feed-in tarrif. It is all bullshit talks by state/fed governments

I thought renewable energy is the cheapest form of energy.

Asking the State Premiers to cap coal is a strategic move. It’s not in the States interests so they will have to negotiate it and ultimately what the Federal government wants is to use this to blame the States for the huge price rises coming

The only way to reduce power bills is to create more supply. It's called economics 101.

Career politicians shuffling deckchairs.

101 - increase supply. Or is that too simple to understand?

I get a delivery fee which I use to not with the electric company . I really think my house is receiving to much electricity. The back of my small house does not work since this am. No Internet. Back of two rooms plugs do not work .Legal uthenization.

Power price hikes to be ‘extremely awful’ or ‘horrifying’Whatever Anthony Albanese achieves when he eventually meets his state and territory counterparts at the delayed national cabinet, it is unlikely to result in lower household energy prices. Lets say we have Covid to delay, saw how they did this in America and it works Maybe.. allowing cheap affordable coal and gas might be an idea Supply/Demand basics 🤷‍♂️🤔 They will never delivery a price cut. Well not one that will be $275 lower than when he took office. They'll have towed $725 before he lowers them, and he'll still champion himself as a hero 🤦

Power price hikes to be ‘extremely awful’ or ‘horrifying’Whatever Anthony Albanese achieves when national cabinet next meets, it is unlikely to result in lower energy prices for families. “Sawing” prices? Allen Keys & Phillip Head say we’ll be hammered by these, although it’s been drilled into us in plane English to expect this. Increasing petrol prices screwdrivers. It’s enough to make anyone pop their caulk. 🤣 Seriously? Try Grammarly or spell check. And it’s theoretically okay to start sentences with conjunctions. But it makes an ugly read. Or so many people think. Because it was usually stressed in schools. And it was taught to be grammatically incorrect. Therefore it gives a perception of informality. And is best avoided.
